Sales Representative

The Sales Representative is a member of the sales team, whose primary responsibility is to sell the Merchant First products and services utilizing the various sales channels as required.  The position requires software inside sales, strong organizational skills, attention to details, a deep commitment to customer satisfaction and desire to participate in driving continual process improvement.  Applicants in this position must have strong communication skills and a sales and service mindset, as this position will serve as a primary face and voice of the organization to our perspective customers.


  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound (calls, chats, email, CRM) lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails
  • Identify and build the reseller and ISV partner channel
  • Understand customer needs and requirements
  • Close sales and achieve quotas
  • Research accounts, identify key players and generate interest
  • Maintain and expand your database of prospective customers
  • Team with channel partners and resellers to build pipeline and close deals
  • Qualifying leads from digital campaigns, conferences, references, tradeshows, etc.
  • Perform effective online demos to prospects
  • Prepares and conduct sales presentations
  • Researching potential leads from business directories, web searches, or digital resources
  • Route qualified opportunities to the appropriate sales executives for further development and closure
  • Creating and maintaining a list/database of prospect clients
  • Presenting and delivering information to potential clients
  • Answering potential client questions and follow-up call questions
  • Tracking weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance and sales metrics
  • Building sales pipelines with channel partners and team members to close sales
  • Maintaining of prospective client information in the CRM
  • Closing sales and working with client through closing process
  • Ensure high level of customer satisfaction
  • Enter all correspondence and necessary information related to a customer issue into the CRM or ticketing system
  • Alert management and team members of at-risk accounts and critical issues


  • Previous software sales experience preferably in the payments industry
  • Proven ability to close the deal
  • Track record of achieving quotas
  • Knowledge of sales process from initiation to close
  • Comfortable making cold calls and talking to new people all day
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect and interact with potential customers
  • Persuasive and goal-oriented
  • Possesses an energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanor
  • Eager to expand company with new sales, clients, and territories
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Tenacity to handle rejection and continue on with a positive attitude when reaching next potential client
  • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and CRM experience preferred
  • Able to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced environment
